Collecting swords is a hobby that thousands of people practice worldwide. Some do it because they are passionate about a certain period in history others because they have some sort of interest in the swords used in various movies. Some only collect swords that gain value overtime.

Below are a few guidelines to help you start your own sword collection.

  1. For those new to sword collecting, the choice is up to you. You can collect sword from a particular time period or you can just collect sword you like, this is a personal choice for each collector.
  2. Find the perfect place to display your swords, keep in mind that this type of collection can take a lot of room. Personally I recommend using an entire room for your collection. But again the choice is yours.
  3. Find the places where you want to buy your swords… Personaly I like to buy my swords online from a reputable e-commerce store…They often have amazing prices and many also have a guarantee. Other places that can be considered are: Auction, Other Collectors, weapon show’s etc…
  4. Before buying a sword try to inspect it before if you can…This is especially true if you are to buy a real antique sword. The sword will need to be inspected before spending your hard earned money.

Specials Tips:

  1. Make sure your sword are hanged properly on the wall. You don’t want them to be damaged with poor hanging hooks.
  2. Take your time… Sword collecting is a matter of years, finding the right one can often take time.
  3. Do not clean your sword unless you are aware of the techniques.
  4. Buying book on sword collecting is advised, especially if your intention is to buy real antique swords.
  5. Do you research properly before buying. Some swords have licensed resellers while others are just cheap imitations…This is especially true for movie swords.

But most the most important aspect of all is: Have fun…this is meant to be something you enjoy :)
